I'm just over 70 and have been having erectile problems for about 10 years. I tried Muse, early on, but found it to be a nuisance and not very effective. More recently, I've tried Viagra and Cialis (at different times). Neither produces an erection suitable for intercourse. I will feel a slightly heightened eroticsm, but not the firm erection we all dream of. I'm on a statin drug for blood pressure and two drugs for cholesterol. My urologist tells me none should interfere with the efficacy of Viagra or Cialis. I'm curious to know if others have had similarly disappointing results. Or if they have hit upon ways to enhance effectiveness. I have an alcoholic drink and wine with dinner every night, but nothing to excess -- and not very late into the evening, so I don't think alcohol is the problem. Your candor will be appreciated. Thanks.
Blood pressure medications are known as erection killers. When I was going through my cardiac rehab after bypass sugery, a nurse told us that impotence was the main reason men stopped taking blood pressure medication. I don't know if there are any blood pressure medications, ACE inhibitors, Beta Blockers, Alpha Blockers, etc that don't adversely affect erections. I have also heard that any medication that interferes with the normal cholesterol manufcturing process is also deadly for erections. caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol (the three major food groups) also adversely affect the ability to produce an erection. What it comes down to for some of us is, do I want to live a few years
